What’s more fun than an Easter egg hunt on the holiday? Limit it to your yard or an outdoor park. There are several ideas for egg hunts at home and events happening around the greater Phoenix metro area that your family may enjoy. Also, because many community hunts don’t happen on Easter, you can double the fun by doing both an Easter egg hunt at home and one at a community event.
When is Easter 2019?
Sunday, April 21.
Egg Hunts at Home
Treasure Hunt: Hide rhyming treasure hunt clues in plastic eggs and put a number on each. Make the clues easy for small children and harder for teens. Have the clues lead to a bigger prize at the end, one for each kid, or a larger family gift. You can also theme the eggs and hunt.
Relay Race: This hunt idea is great for large family or friend/family celebrations. Split the kids into even teams. When you say go, have the first kid from each team go search for an egg. Once they’ve found an egg, they come back and tag the next teammate in line, until each child has had a turn. Repeat. The team with the most eggs wins.
Energy Burn-off: Kids have a lot of energy to burn. Craft an egg hunt that will get them moving, doing cartwheels, hopping like a bunny, and just having fun by hiding eggs with activities among eggs filled with small toys and coupons (e.g., 30 minutes of TV, an extra hour to stay up, etc.) rather than candy.
